Yetunde Fadeyi of REES Africa Wins the Grand Prize of the 2019 EETF Green GrantAwards
REES Africa records another win for environmental sustainability, following its outstanding representation in the Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation’s 2019 boot camp for innovative environmentalists. This effort was duly crowned in the ensuing event, “EETF 2019 Green Awards,” held on 9th November 2019.
Following an invitation from the organizers of the event, Yetunde Fadeyi (Founder, REES Africa) represented the organization at the EETF boot camp. A camp organized earlier in the year for leaders of remarkable NGOs in the environmental sector. The boot camp was structured to bring out the best from the participants through leadership training, at the end of which, the room was given for each participant to showcase their best. As stipulated via an established guideline, each participant pitched the innovative ideas that have made their organization stand out in the environmental sector to a panel of judges and an audience. Alongside some other considerations, most of the points that made REES Africa’s pitch earn the grand prize were centred on –
· The ingenuity of the organization’s ideas in providing a solution to an environmental problem.
· How they address and improve community development,
· The practicability of REES Africa’s ideas both at the point of conceptualization and implementation.
· The sustainability of established projects over time
· Accountability and transparency of the organization, bordering on its ability to use limited funds to execute incredible projects.
After a thorough assessment of the pitched ideas, the judges declared Yetunde Fadeyi the winner of the one million naira (₦1,000,000) grand prize reserved for the 2019 Green Grant Award winner. The event also recorded winners in other categories, all of whom were duly accorded with various prizes and access to further mentorship and other opportunities from EETF. The award marks another glaring peak in REES Africa’s 2019 calendar, one which the organization is most grateful for as a part of the year’s track of successes.
REES Africa remains true to its goals to propel community development through the establishment of environmentally sustainable projects across Africa. A statement which the organization intends to reiterate resoundingly in the upcoming solar electrification of three rural communities in Kaduna state. In a bid to ensure the widespread of environmentally friendly impacts across the globe at an incredible rate, the organization continues to lend its arm of partnership to similar-minded organizations and sponsors, to help achieve a collective win for our environment.
A win by any environmental organization is a win for the environment and — A WIN FOR ALL.
